​Honoring the Mind of the World’s Smartest Breed

Welcome to my Border Collie Core collection, a visual tribute to the unmatched intelligence and athletic agility of this incredible breed. As the absolute brainiacs of the canine world, Border Collies are widely celebrated for their mental capacity. In fact, they are estimated to be the only dog breed capable of recognizing over 1,000 distinct nouns, famously demonstrated by a collie named Chaser. By mapping their sharp, hyper-focused minds into my original geometric mandalas, structured grids, and bold kaleidoscope patterns, I have created a collection that is as intellectually stimulating as the breed itself.

​"The Eye" in Symmetrical Geometries

The balancing symmetry in my artwork represents the famous herding style of the Border Collie. Unlike typical sheepdogs that rely on barking or nipping, shepherds in the Scottish borders bred these dogs to herd using their "eye"—an intense, silent, and deeply focused stare inherited from their wolf ancestors. My radial mandalas and structured geometric grids capture the hypnotic energy of this powerful gaze. Every line and repeating shape is designed to bring that same commanding presence and focused beauty into your living space.

​From Royal Companions to Modern Marvels

The rich history of these dogs is filled with incredible tales. Queen Victoria famously fell in love with the breed in the 1860s, adopting a smooth-coated collie named Sharp and later a rough-coated tricolor companion named Noble. Even the renowned Scottish poet Robert Burns was so inspired by his beloved collie, Luath, that he wrote the famous poem The Twa Dogs. Beyond their royal history, Border Collies hold incredible world records, including Sweet Pea, who balanced a can on her head while walking 100 meters, and Blitz, a search-and-rescue dog who saved a missing woman by finding her hidden deep under foliage where human searchers couldn't see her.
